Barcelona Photographer is directed by the German photographer and art director
Katherin Wermke Since 2005, co-ordinating a multicultural group of photographers who master various languages.
Katherin Wermke was born in Cologne, Germany in 1977. She developed an interest in the visual arts whilst
working in television production in her home city and during a 4 month stay in Mexico. In 2000, Katherin moved to
Barcelona to study photography at the Institut d’ Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya.
After her Diploma in Advertising Photography from the IEFC, she has taken additional professional courses at the
International Center of Photography y School of Visual Arts in New York: Since 2008 Katherin has run courses at the Institut d' Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya on digital photography and portraiture.
Her photographic work has been exhibited on various occasions: at the Festival OFF du Photoreportage (Perpignan 2005), and her portrait series Mirades d'Ara was selected for the catalogue of the La Immigració, Ara i Aquì exhibition held at the Palau Robert (Barcelona 2008), the Salón de Primavera Carrousel del Museo Louvre (Paris 2009), and the Crisolart Galleries (Barcelona 2009).
